5 Great Reasons To Start Your Own Blog By Garrett Davis
First off: What is a blog?
Starting your own blog is now easier than ever before. It can be totally free, require
almost no technical skills, and can be set up in minutes. If you know how to work email, you can start a blog. A great place for this is
Blogger.com. It’s owned by Google, and if you already have a Gmail address, then you’re already automatically signed up. All you’ll need to do is choose a
pre-designed template, a name for your blog, and you’re off! Blogger.com will also host your blog online for free. Your web address will look
like this: www(dot)yourblogname(dot)blogspot(dot)com.
If you’ve never blogged before, I encourage you to give it a shot. It’s an activity that I definitely think you’ll find value in.
For one, you get to sound cool when you mention your blog to other people. They’ll think you’re so modern. Some will think you must be some
sort of technical genius. Aside from that, you’ll be doing a whole lot for your personal growth, and that’s what this site is all about.
Listed are some of the top advantages.
1. Make life more interesting by blogging. If you have a blog, you’ll want it to be
interesting. If you want to have an interesting blog, you’ll have to be interesting yourself. Your blog will be a reflection of you and your
experiences. If you blog about your life, and your blog is boring, it will be because your life is boring. If, on the other hand, you blog about
your experiences and your entries are totally captivating, it will be because your life experiences are captivating. Do more interesting things
and you’ll have more interesting things to blog about. Also, as you develop your writing skills you become increasingly capable of expressing the
value of your experiences through your blog. Now, your blog doesn’t have to be liked by everyone who ever reads it. Even if you’re the only
person who ever reads it anyways, which very well may be the case, you will know if it is good or not. Ultimately, all that really counts is if
it’s to your satisfaction.
2. Increase your intelligence through blogging. Blogging is writing. Writing, just
like reading, will increase your intelligence when you do enough of it. If you’re writing for your blog on a consistent basis, you’ll have the
opportunity to really develop your writing skills, assuming you challenge yourself. If your goal is to make your blog entries consistently better
than they used to be, your writing will improve exponentially. Developing superb writing skills can help you in a myriad of ways. When you become
better able to express yourself through the written word, you become that much more effective. This can really help in terms of your career. No
matter what field you would like to advance in, improving your writing skills is a step in the right direction.
3. Blog as a creative outlet. Ultimately blogging is just another means of
expressing one’s self. By taking on blogging as a hobby, you’ll be exercising your creative self. Creative outlets are a great means reducing
stress, and just plain having fun. When you express yourself creatively, you work parts of your brain that may have otherwise been dormant.
Creative self-expression is one of the capacities of humanity that facilitates our greatness.
4. By blogging, you’ll be creating something from nothing. This is a wonderful facet
of intelligence. When you write a blog entry, you take an idea and foster it into something tangible. If you’re so creatively inclined, you can
even take blogging to the next level and make a virtual scrapbook of sorts out your blog entries with a little bit of technical know how. There
are an infinite number ways you can dress up your blog to make it uniquely your own. You can add pictures, audio, and even video to your blog if
you wish.
5. You’ll be proud of what you’ve created. You’ll be like a proud parent. A parent of an adorable little baby blog. You’ll
look back on your blog entries with pride, and in doing so, you’ll be able to track your growth. Imagine if you blog once a week for a
year. That’s 52 blog entries you’ll have produced. That, in my estimation, would be an appreciable accomplishment.
