Expanding Thoughts By Garrett Davis
An explanation of the law of attraction can be made quite complicated, or it can
be made very simple. In the simplest of terms, LOA says that what we think about expands. Thoughts matter. They matter a lot. Our
thoughts make up our reality, both in terms of our perceptions and our actual experiences.
Using this model, it becomes imperative that you choose your thoughts wisely. Choosing your thoughts and choosing your reality are
essentially one and the same. You will select your thoughts in accordance with the reality you desire.
To be able to control your own thoughts, you must first acknowledge that you do in fact have the power to do so. This may sound
simple enough at first, but it is a concept that really requires thorough attention. Until you master this idea, you will persist in the
belief that you are no more than the bodily host of rogue thought vibrations that pass through you with no real consent of your own
actually required. In other words, if you don’t believe that you are the source of your own thoughts, then that will be your true reality.
You will continue to be victimized by your own thoughts. The choice is yours: Declare that you, and only you, can control what goes on in
your own head, or accept the consequences that come along with having a victim’s mentality.
When you choose not to acknowledge that you are the creator of the thoughts that you experience, you choose to relinquish
control.
The choice is yours: You can choose a reality in which you are in the driver’s seat, steering your thoughts in a direction that is
most beneficial to you, or you can choose the passenger seat, allowing yourself to be driven by your thoughts. The longer you remain in the
passenger seat, the more likely it becomes that you will be taken places that you didn’t necessarily want to go to.
The next step is to take notice of how thoughts tend to duplicate and multiply. This is a central tendency of human
thought. It is this facet of thought formation that allows us to generate coherent thought patterns. It is what has allowed me to write
this article, and what is allowing you to read it. If our thoughts did not tend to duplicate and multiply, we would not be able to live
fulfilling and productive lives. In fact, there would be no society as we now know it.
Expanding Thoughts:
Every time we have a thought, it becomes likely that we will repeat that thought. With every repetition, the thought’s content
becomes that much more a part of the realities that we experience. After we’ve replicated a thought enough times, we end up as the owner of
a belief. Our beliefs are simply byproducts of thoughts that we’ve produced over and over again.
Thought Creation:
Following the continuum of how our thoughts progress, we can see how the thoughts that we think in the morning are likely to be
thoughts that will reemerge later in the day. Similarly, the thoughts we think through out the day are those which are likely to spill over
into the coming days. Left unstopped, such thoughts eventually become chronic, prolonged ways of thinking. Chronic ways of thinking form
larger thought patterns. Our thought patterns can function as forecasters of the circumstances that we will manifest into our
lives.
Morning thoughts –>Daily thoughts –> Thought patterns –> Manifestations
If the ancestor to every action is a thought, then it is crucial that we strive to obtain a level of consciousness that creates
only those thoughts that will be most beneficial to us.
Take careful watch over what it is that you allow yourself to think about before falling asleep at night. If you find yourself
mentally dwelling upon that which you know will be of no benefit to you, then take the mental action required to gently shift your thinking
into the realm of the pleasant. When you find yourself frustrated by repetitive thought patterns as you lay in the dark, try turning the
light on. This is a very simple trick that I have found works wonders. Light brings into the room a higher and faster energy that will help
you to break away from rumination. Another trick that’s a favorite of mine is to listen to a positive audio book or lecture when going to
sleep. This is a great way to help make your last thoughts of the day positive ones.
In the morning, actively direct your thoughts towards that which will make you feel joyful. Intend to make your first thoughts of
the day exclusively those that make you feel happy to be alive. The key is to mentally start the day off right, so that the momentum your
thoughts carry may continue on in the right direction. It will be that much easier for you to maintain a pleasant mindset when you start
the day out with one. If you find your mind creating negative thoughts at any point in your day, remind yourself that you have the power to
mentally change course.
Remember that there is always an alternative to the way you are thinking. Often times, simply reminding yourself that you can
take a different perspective is enough to derail your current thought momentum. Practice taking a critical approach to the thoughts
that make you feel bad. Use your emotions to gauge your thought patterns. If you find yourself feeling bad, it is because you are thinking
the thoughts that correspond with feeling bad. Every time you can successfully break a thought pattern, even if for only a couple of
minutes, or even seconds, you gain just a little bit more control over your mind. When you control your thoughts, you control your
life.
Remember that there is no wasted effort in shaping your thoughts. When you are doing the things that bring you joy, you are
shaping your thoughts. Every time you experience joy, you are contributing to the larger thought patterns that make up your mindset.
Acknowledge that you control your thoughts, and practice intervening when necessary. Most importantly, strive to stay in a mindset that
allows you to truly enjoy life. Time spent rejoicing is never time wasted.
